Our housing counselors can help!

Families or individuals with low incomes who are homeless or at risk of homelessness can work with Capstone counselors to assess needs and establish housing goals. Working together with you, Capstone is here to:

• Help you understand the shelter system

• Help you create a plan to solve problems and overcome barriers

• Help you work with your landlord

• Provide information about tenants’ rights and responsibilities

• Offer budget counseling and financial literacy trainings

• Help you apply for housing grants that provide limited assistance for rent, security deposits and utilities

Eligibility

You must meet HUD definitions of Homeless or At Risk Homelessness and be a renter or seeking to rent. Get in touch with a housing counselor today to find out more. 

Washington County Emergency Shelter

In Washington County, Capstone Community Action manages some Emergency Shelter programs for families and individuals who are without a home.

Our Emergency Scattered Site program, for families with children under 18, who are without a home and working toward permanent housing, may be available to those who meet program eligibility and our Seasonal Overflow Low Barrier Shelter, serves individuals over 18 years of age during the winter months.

From helping access Emergency Shelter to securing life skills, Capstone is here to ensure you have support and ease with this process.

Building positive relationships with participants is key to our coordinators. Staying connected to other service providers keeps our network of assistance strong, and each individual situation is approached with dignity and respect.
