Heating Assistance
Are you a homeowner or renter paying for heat or has heat included in your rent? In addition to our Crisis Fuel Program, Capstone offers programs that may be able to assist with fuel, tank sets, and other heat associated costs.
The State of Vermont’s fuel assistance program may be able to help you afford your heating bills and avoid a heating emergency. This state program is also known as Fuel Assistance, Seasonal Fuel or LIHEAP. Capstone Community Action can assist with your application for the Fuel Assistance program which covers a variety of home heating fuels including wood. We can also help you budget and plan for the upcoming heating season.
Is your furnace broken? We can also help determine whether you are eligible for the Furnace Repair and Replacement program.
Who is eligible?
Financial guidelines for most of these programs are up to 200% federal poverty level, including income from all sources. You can apply for Supplemental fuel assistance at any time for the current or upcoming season, but do not delay in applying for assistance! Applications received after August 31st of the year may result in a smaller benefit.
Thanks to our generous donors we may be able to assist those with higher incomes based on individual situations - please call your local Capstone office to inquire. We will help you through the process!
