Capstone Community Action is looking for Head Start Home Visitors to join our passionate team in Washington, Lamoille and Orange Counties. Join us in helping families move out of poverty and build brighter futures; all working in a supportive, flexible, and purpose-filled environment.

Why work for Head Start at Capstone? There are a lot of reasons big and small (and giggly). Head Start is a well-respected early childhood education provider that focuses on the whole child and works to promote strengths of both the child and their family. We provide children and families with child education, parenting education, social services, medical, dental, nutrition and mental health consultations, as well as support in accessing community resources.

Position: The home visitor works with families to support parents in strengthening their skills as the primary educators of their children. Home visitors develop and apply expertise in preschool development, assessment and implementation of individualized services. This position works collaboratively with other Head Start staff to deliver quality services to all enrolled families and to further the mission of Head Start. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a home based CDA or equivalent coursework in Early Childhood Education or Human Services.
  • Experience working with preschool children and their families, understanding parenting issues, adult learning styles, and sensitivity to the needs of low-income families.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance required.
  • Ability to commit to a flexible work schedule that includes some evening and weekend hours.
  • Knowledge of community resources
