Head Start Home Visitor
Since 1965, Capstone Community Action has supported individuals and families in Central Vermont in achieving economic and housing stability and rising out of poverty. Capstone’s early childhood education and family services are central to its mission, offering center-based and home-based Head Start and Early Head Start programs that support positive child, family, and community outcomes that use a whole-child approach and actively engage parents as partners in their children’s early learning and development.
Position: The home visitor works with an assigned caseload of families to support parents in strengthening their skills as the primary educators of their children. Home visitors develop and apply expertise in preschool development, assessment and implementation of individualized services. The home visitor works cooperatively with other Head Start staff in the Lamoille area to deliver quality services to all enrolled families and to further the mission of Head Start. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of home visitor setting CDA or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate or baccalaureate degree in early childhood education
- Experience working with preschool children and their families, understanding parenting issues, adult learning styles, and sensitivity to the needs of low-income families.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance required.
- Ability to commit to a flexible work schedule that includes some evening and weekend hours.
- Knowledge of community resources.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with a 40-hour per week standard schedule and competitive pay at $19.13 – $24.80 per hour.
