3SquaresVT
3SquaresVT is a federal USDA program (formerly called “food stamps”) that can help stretch your food budget so you can put three healthy meals on your table every day. Income eligibility guidelines have changed and more Vermonters can now get help. For example, working families who get the Vermont Earned Income Tax Credit can qualify, and monthly benefits currently average over $200 per month for families with children, saving you money on your grocery bills. You may also be eligible if you’re a senior, have a disability or simply have limited resources, are unable to leave your home or are homeless.
If you have been financially affected by COVID due to job loss or reduced hours, you may be eligible for 3SquaresVT. The best way to find out if you are eligible is to apply, so call the Capstone Community Action office nearest you. We can help with the forms and application process.
Here's what to have ready when you apply for 3SquaresVT:
- Names, Dates of Birth and SS#s for all household members (cards not required).
- Proof of Income such as Social Security statement, Reach Up or paystub.
- List of monthly bills: utilities, rent or mortgage, property tax information if homeowner, car payments, etc.
