Capstone is at an exciting growth moment in its evolution, and is looking for a new member of its Climate Impact team to lead an ambitious new program: Mobility, Efficiency & Equity.
The Mobility & Equity Manager will help transform rural transportation by expanding transportation access to marginalized Vermonters and increasing mobility for rural citizens while advancing electrification of Vermont’s transportation fleet. We are looking for someone with the leadership and skills to paint a future vision, implement a plan, operationalize ambitious goals, and embrace teamwork to effect change. The program manager will build on existing transportation programs and infrastructure in central Vermont to launch a fleet of electric vehicles and innovative programming to increase mobility, especially for Vermonters with low income who lack mobility, access and options.
A successful candidate will be both an inspirational ambassador of clean energy and transportation as well as a strong project manager. Core workload includes: oversight of consultant business planning and technology development, policy development and advocacy/ public speaking, management and marketing, grassroots organizing, building partnerships within the transportation & energy network, and enhancing customer relations.

B: Essential Functions:
Develop an ambitious and realistic long-range plan for creating the Mobility and Equity program, put the plan into action, and consistently evaluate the work & the plan to know it is addressing current needs and accomplishing our goals.
Build the network of employers, service providers, partners, and customers; essentially creating the demand and supply to fill this critical gap in our infrastructure.
Hire and manage a team deployed to execute on various pieces of the plan.
Partner with allied organizations and businesses to enhance their mission with sustainable transportation solutions. Retain consultants and other experts as necessary.
Participate in and represent Mobility, Efficiency and Equity Program at fundraising opportunities with local businesses, private foundations, and individual philanthropists.
Be the program ambassador by sharing the vision, inviting feedback, and using others’ enthusiasm and skepticism to inform the work.
Ability to inspire a team by setting clear expectations, making & acting on tough decisions, humbly collaborating, and working independently toward a shared mission.
Demonstrated organizational, managerial, interpersonal, marketing and leadership skills.
Able to work within the realities of our current energy & transportation systems, while consistently looking over the horizon to determine what can be.
Tech-savvy around the ins and outs of operating a service-oriented business and the technology to unite clean energy and sustainable transportation, with a big picture orientation and an ability to let others own the work.
Proficient at remaining goal-oriented and focused on priorities within a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and shifting landscape.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills: can interpret complex technical information and translate it into a message that motivates.
Joyful customer service orientation.
Commitment to the mission of advancing social and economic justice, and an understanding of how systemic barriers impede that justice.
5+ years of experience managing big projects and the humans that make them succeed.
Uninhibited by the word ‘no’ and the sentiment that ‘it can’t be done’.
