  1. General Statement

     The Human Resources Assistant is responsible to assist the Human Resources Department in a confidential and professional manner.  This position is a limited service, full-time regular position working 40 hours per week and is supervised by the Human Resources Manager. 

  1. Essential Duties
  • Assist Human Resources department in all areas of personnel, compensation, and benefit administration, while ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of all Human Resources files and records.
  • Assist in recruitment process, including internal and external postings.
  • Assist with applications/resumes received, including and respond to applicant inquiries. 
  • Processes monthly benefit premium invoices, i.e. health, dental, life, long term disability and completes request for payment as needed. 
  • Prepare period reports on payroll, benefits, insurances, etc.
  • Point of contact for frequently asked questions from employees relative to policies, benefits, hiring processes; refers more complex questions to appropriate HR staff.
  • Prepare and update Employee Orientation Manuals, as well as computerized documents for electronic access.
  • Assists with or administers bi-weekly orientations in the absence of the Human Resources Generalist.
  • Conducting criminal background checks on staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Create staff ID badges and follow-up with new hire paperwork. 
  • Assist with annual Head Start summer layoffs.   
  • Monitors ACA Dashboard for benefit status and measurement period annual 1095 reporting. 
  1. Other Duties
  •  All other duties as assigned.
  1. Qualifications
  • Minimum of a High school diploma although Associates degree in business administration and or concentration in human resources management preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly organized and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to use computer applications such as Office XP.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws as they relate to Human Resource issues.
