A. General Description:
The DCM Case Management Supervisor will coordinate and supervise the work of the DCM program Case Managers. The position also includes advocacy, mediation, assessment, planning, and connections to resources. The Supervisor works as part of the DCM team and reports to the DCM Program Manager.
B. Essential Functions:
- Provide supervision, direction, guidance and support to the Disaster Recovery Case Managers. Review, process, and guide cases.
- Manage the case management workflow. Ensure even and appropriate distribution of work among case managers. Identify, arbitrate and resolve escalating issues within the case management system.
- Regularly review the work of the case managers including families individualized flood recovery plans. Approve spending from discretionary accounts pledged by case managers for the cases they are assisting.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities for the Disaster Recovery Case Managers.
- Participate and collaborate with area long term recovery committees. Develop, coordinate and maintain linkages and connections with organizations, flood relief efforts and other support service providers to best serve clients.
- Regularly review reports from client management systems (databases) about case management activities provided by the DCM program. File timely programmatic and financial reports as required by funding sources and Capstone Community Action. Work closely with the third-party evaluator to ensure integration of process and outcome evaluation strategies through program planning, implementation, and reporting protocols and procedures.
C. Other Duties:
- Attends various trainings and meetings of different organizations as requested or as needed to achieve the goals of the Disaster Recovery Program and/or the agency.
- Promotes the Disaster Recovery Program, and Capstone Community Action and its other services, through presentations, networking, and the day-to-day work in the communities being served.
- Fosters a positive public image and perception pertaining to the experience of people dealing with hardships and working their way through crises.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
D. Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred plus four years’ experience with case management or similar experience.
- Experience interpreting and applying complex rules or regulations is required.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills are essential
- Working knowledge of MS Office software including Excel, Access, and Word is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of disaster case management. Demonstrated knowledge of human services, domestic violence issues, adult development, and the education and human service networks in Vermont. Demonstrated sensitivity to issues related to poverty and the barriers faced by people with low incomes.
- Willingness to travel throughout the state and to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
- A home telephone, reliable insured transportation, and a valid VT driver’s license are required.
