Brook Street High School Teacher/Academic Coordinator

Since 1965, Capstone Community Action has supported individuals and families in Central Vermont in achieving economic and housing stability and rising out of poverty. Capstone’s early childhood education and family services are central to its mission, offering center-based and home-based Head Start and Early Head Start programs that support positive child, family, and community outcomes that use a whole-child approach and actively engage parents as partners in their children’s early learning and development.

Position: Capstone’s Brook Street High School, an alternative secondary educational program designed to meet the unique needs of pregnant and parenting high school students, is seeking a Teacher/Academic Coordinator to work full-time basis as a regular classroom teacher. As a member of the Brook Street team of dedicated teachers and staff offering high-quality academic programming alongside supportive services, the Teacher/Academic Coordinator works with small groups of students, providing instruction and oversight of programming, while ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment in which students feel valued and have opportunities to thrive. Qualifications: The required, minimum qualifications for the Teacher/Academic Coordinator include bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in English, Math, Science or History. Have at least two years of experience teaching upper elementary, middle, or secondary school students or in adult education. A current Vermont Teaching License for the age group is required.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, exempt position offering an annual salary of $58,000 - $66,000. Capstone’s full-time benefits program offers generous paid time off; health, dental, and life insurance plans; and a 401k retirement plan with employer match.
