Help Your Neighbors in Need During Harsh Weather Conditions with Fuel Your Neighbors

Be a part of the Fuel Your Neighbors initiative during times of urgent need

If you have been outside in Vermont in recent weeks you are aware of the brutal temperatures that have swept this area. Now imagine the inside temperature being just as cold as the outside temperature. This harsh reality for some Vermonters is forcing families in financial hardship to choose between food and fuel, two essential basic needs. Channel 3 News WCAX’s Gary Sadowsky noted on the TV station’s website weather update to, “Check on your neighbors who may need assistance, and keep the kids and pets inside”. Acting to protect vulnerable community members is crucial during intense weather conditions.

Capstone’s Fuel Your Neighbors initiative, partnered with VSECU and The Point FM, is working to do just as Gary suggested: help Vermont neighbors who need assistance. This weekend temperatures are set to plummet with dangerous wind chills reaching 30 below. FYN is acting to prevent families from making the choice between paying for heat or food. Any amount donated to Fuel Your Neighbors will be matched by VSECU thereby doubling the amount Capstone can provide to families that need help buying food, fuel, or repair a broken heating appliance. FYN services are urgent during the dangerous weather conditions our region has been experiencing and we need help from you, our generous community members. Vermonters are known for taking care of their own- do your part and help a neighbor in need.
