Wheels for Warmth Returns October 29-31 to Support Heating Assistance

Vermonters Encouraged to Donate Usable Tires and Help Keep Neighbors Warm

BARRE, VT - The 21st annual Wheels for Warmth tire collection and resale event returns for October 29 – 31, and organizers are encouraging Vermonters to donate usable tires to support emergency heating assistance programs across the state. Since 2005, Wheels for Warmth has raised more than $900,000 for fuel assistance while also keeping thousands of tires out of Vermont's waste stream.

Community members are asked to donate gently used tires that can be resold at the annual tire sale. Proceeds from tire sales help fund emergency heating assistance programs provided by Vermont's Community Action Agencies, helping vulnerable households stay warm during the winter months.

Tire Donation Days will take place:

Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30, 2026

2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

  • Vermont Granite Museum, 7 Jones Bros. Way, Barre
  • Casella Waste Systems, 220 Avenue B, Williston
  • Casella Construction, 1385 US-7, Pittsford

1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

  • Stowe Events Field, 80 Weeks Hill, Stowe
  • Calkins Rock Products, 34 Calkins Dr., Lyndon
  • SEVCA, 91 Buck Dr., Westminster

Tires that cannot be resold may still be accepted for recycling. A fee of $5 per tire and $10 per larger truck/tractor tire applies for tires designated for recycling.

The Wheels for Warmth Tire Sale will be held on Saturday, October 31, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Vermont Granite Museum in Barre and Casella Construction in Pittsford. Shoppers can purchase affordable, DMV-inspected used tires while supporting a good cause.

Over the past 21 years, the program has sold more than 27,000 safe donated tires, recycled 53,000 unusable tires, and generated over $900,000.00 of critical funding for emergency fuel assistance programs across Vermont. Organizers are hoping for a strong turnout of tire donations this year to continue the program's impact.
