Capstone's Overflow Shelter

On January 12, 2026, Capstone opened its first shelter in Montpelier. This 15-bed, low-barrier shelter is funded through March 31, 2026, and has remained at full capacity since opening, serving 32 guests to date.

The Capstone Overflow Shelter was made possible through swift collaboration and community commitment. We are grateful to Capstone’s Family and Community Support Service leadership team for securing critical grant funding, to Beth Ann Maier for her tireless advocacy, to The Unitarian Church of Montpelier for generously providing space, and to members of Montpelier’s faith community who donate their time to support daytime warming space.

This effort truly took a village, and we are thankful to be part of a community that comes together to support our most vulnerable neighbors, especially during this frigid winter.
